BISS GCh. Amook’s Victory Lap – Smoke
04/30/2012 – 05/06/2024
The crushing disappointments and losses of the last year continue with our 4th loss in the last year. We said goodbye to our beautiful Smoke today after a rare, very aggressive form of cancer hit him fast and hard, leaving us reeling and grief-stricken.
Smoke was out of a breeding Kim Adkinson did with our Winston, and from the first I knew I wanted something out of that breeding. It was SUPPOSED to be a girl but I fell in love with his pictures and when I saw him in person at 8 weeks old, the deal was sealed…I had to have him.
Smoke was as intelligent as he was beautiful , and possessed a challenging personality that forced me to re-think my training methods and learn to be creative. He was willing and very eager to engage but he demanded respect and fit the perfect description of malamutes…there had to be something in it for him. What he wanted most of all was attention and a true partnership and out of that we forged one of the strongest bonds I’ve had with my dogs. You had to be aware of his “quirks” but I learned to work with them and loved every minute of training and working with him. Despite the challenges with him, or maybe because of them, this boy pulled at my heart always…my husband and I will both miss him more than we can describe.
He joins the others we’ve lost this last year…Molly and Morgan, and just a few short weeks ago our Royal, who was always Smoke’s best buddy. I take comfort in knowing they are together again now, waiting for us at the Bridge with all the rest of our pack.
Rest easy my beautiful Smoke-Stack…Mama will miss you always.

BISS GCh Ch Amook's Victory Lap - Smoke
Amook's Victory Lap...aka Smoke, came to us from Ice Age Malamutes in Illinois. When Kim approached me about breeding her beautiful Phoebe to our Winston I immediately said yes. Going out to visit the litter I told myself I was going to be strong...I was ONLY going to bring home a puppy if she ( yes SHE...I was adamant I was only going to look at the girls) had everything I was looking or. I tried, I really did. But I couldn't resist that gorgeous little boy with his dark, dark eyes. Smoke came home with us and with ever passing week we are more and more convinced this boy is going to be something special.
